SMART is Green Flagged !

Our SMART service is client led and is underpinned with a Psycho-social approach. We aim to enable clients to stabilise not only in their drug use but to find stability in all areas of their lives.

We try to provide consistency for clients by ensuring they have the same keyworker throughout their time at SMART. Goals are identified through tailored care plans. The client takes an active part in drawing up the care plan and it is reviewed on a regular basis.

SMART achieved a green grading from the National Treatment Agency (NTA) for its work. This indicates SMART's performance in key areas met or exceeded the targets that were set for them. SMART achieved a green grading for the following areas in 2006:

1. The number of drug users in treatment for that year to date.

2. The waiting times to the first treatment intervention for the following interventions during the current quarter:

• Residential rehabilitation

• Specialist prescribing

• GP prescribing

• Structured day programmes

• Structured day programmes

• Structured psychosocial interventions

• Other structured treatment

2. The number of planned discharges who complete treatment or are referred on for other services year to date for:

• Residential rehabilitation

• Structured day programmes

3. Care plans

• Proportion starting an intervention who have a care plan recorded
